Join College of Charleston Crew

The College of Charleston Crew team is one of the largest club sports at the College. We are a co-ed club and are in our twenty-third year of operation. In the last few years the team has steadily increased in size and ability. We want the next class of oarsmen to take it even further. We are looking for motivated athletes willing to put in a genuine effort. Experience is not necessary and most Charleston oarsmen and oarswomen never touch an oar until arriving at the College. Rowing is a sport like no other. You go backwards, you row in unison with seven other people, and you watch as your opponents wallow in your puddles. It’s incredible.

Items of interest:

We row on the Ashley River a mile away from campus.
We practice five days a week but are very flexible with your schedule.
We need coxswains (people who weigh under 120 lbs or so and can command a group).
We are a family.
We travel all over the east coast.
Dues are lower than most other crews (300 a semester for rowers, 200 for coxswains)
You will become something greater.
For your own sake, give rowing a try. Come to an information session, go out for a few rows, and figure out if the oldest collegiate sport is for you.
